Weeb Ewbank is the only man ever to coach two different American pro football teams to victory in a championship game, and the only man to coach winners of NFL, AFL, and World Championships — an NFL championship in 1958 and 1959 with the Colts, an AFL championship in 1968 with the New York Jets and a World Championship in the 1969 Super Bowl III with the Jets. The 1958 NFL game between the Baltimore Colts and the New York Giants is often referred to as the “Greatest Game Ever Played” and was the first NFL playoff game to go into sudden death (tiebreaker) overtime. Ewbank was selected as the Head Coach of the AFL All-Time Team and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1978. Full of personality and a twinkle in his eye, he is represented here as part of “The Cradle of Coaches” collection of Miami University of Oxford, Ohio with typical pen in hand and play notes in his pocket.
