Passing the Torch depicts 1964 two-time Olympic gold medalist and Dallas Cowboy football star, Bob Hayes. Mr. Hayes was known as “the fastest man on earth,” “Bullet” Bob Hayes, and “Crow” to local Jacksonville friends. The work exhibits the official Olympic attire and the simplified Japanese torch of the 1964 Olympics. Photos and torch design were supplied by the Olympic Committee with additional photos supplied by the Florida Times-Union newspaper and Hayes’ alma mater, Florida A&M University.
