MALLARD MINI     2001

Bronze     4"h x 5.75"w x 2.75"d

Limited Edition Of 200

The enchanting Mallard is most common in North America, though it is also found in Europe and Asia. Referred to as a dabbling duck because it feeds at the surface of the water; the Mallard filters food through its broad, flat bill, rounded at the tip. This charming duck lives in ponds, streams and rivers and is an omnivore, feeding on invertebrates and small plants. The male ruffles its' bright feathers to attract the female but, once mating, the pair separate and the female protects the eggs. The Artist has long enjoyed the antics of this delightful bird, prevalent on the Delaware/ Maryland Eastern Shore. The model was found injured and was rescued by the Artist in the summer of 2001.
